The Health Department shut down Laxmi Health Care Centre, a private hospital, on Monday after a court order revealed it was unregistered and run by three quacks with fake degrees, according to police sources.

Action was initiated months after a patient's death led to an investigation by the department. Police have filed charges against the three fraudulent doctors who are currently on the run.

Bhadohi SHO Ashwini Kumar Tripathi said a case was filed on September 27, based on a complaint from Dr. Sameer Upadhyay, against quacks Arvind Kumar Ojha, Anand Chauhan, and another colleague, under relevant laws.

Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. B.N. Singh stated that a probe team found the hospital unregistered and the quacks' degrees fraudulent. A petition was filed in court, and a subsequent court order mandated immediate action if an FIR was not registered within 48 hours.

Subsequently, the Laxmi Health Care Centre on Chowri Road was sealed on Monday.
