The Kerala health department announced on Friday that another Mpox case has been reported in the state. Authorities are urging individuals displaying symptoms to seek medical care.
This comes after the state reported the country's first confirmed case of the new Mpox strain earlier this week. The health department held a high-level meeting to assess the situation and implement preventive measures.
State Health Minister Veena George stated that a contact list of the patient has been compiled, and necessary preventive steps have been initiated. Isolation facilities have been established in all districts. On September 23, the department announced plans to release updated guidelines for the prevention and treatment of Mpox.
Official sources revealed that the Mpox Clade 1b strain was found in a 38-year-old man from Malappuram district who recently returned from the UAE. Since the WHO declared Mpox a Public Health Emergency of International Concern in 2022, India has reported 30 cases.
