Cyber Crime Crackdown: Rs 9 Crore Frozen in Fraud Prevention Efforts

In Delhi, 2024 witnessed a significant operation against cyber frauds, culminating in the freezing of approximately Rs 9 crore. An official confirmed on Friday that around Rs 2 crore of this amount has been released back to victims in the city's west district.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer highlighted these efforts as part of a larger initiative to safeguard the public from cyber criminals leveraging digital platforms for fraudulent activities. The West district cyber police station, functioning since December 2021, played a key role in securing victims' funds.
In 2024 alone, the cyber police station tackled about 8,000 complaints, leading to the arrest of 93 individuals, including 22 from prior cases and 71 from new incidents that arose during the year. One notable achievement was the freezing of Rs 9.12 crore in fraudulent transactions. Efforts to guide victims in reclaiming their stolen money resulted in Rs 1.89 crore being successfully returned to them, minimizing their financial losses.
