Junior medics at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital voiced their concerns on Wednesday, shouting slogans against 51 doctors, house staff, and interns. Twelve of the accused appeared before an inquiry committee investigating allegations of a threatening culture within the institution.

Senior PGT medic Ashis Pandey, affiliated with the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP), was among those summoned. Pandey is associated with Sandip Ghosh, the former principal who is currently in CBI custody. The junior doctors occupied the space outside the hospital superintendent's office during the day-long hearing.

The 51 accused individuals have been linked to fostering a culture of intimidation. Their campus access has been restricted due to alleged connections with Ghosh, who faces multiple controversies within the hospital's administration.

Meanwhile, Dr. Shyama Prasad Das, the personal physician to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, responded to allegations connecting him to Ghosh. Das denied any knowledge of a 'north Bengal lobby,' a group accused of intimidating junior doctors, and emphasized his commitment to the law.

Dr. Das dismissed political demands for his arrest as politically driven, asserting his non-involvement in the current investigations.
