Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced the elimination of encephalitis in eastern Uttar Pradesh, a region previously marred by the disease. According to Adityanath, the area has reported zero deaths this year, marking an unprecedented achievement made possible by collective efforts and unwavering determination.

Speaking at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences' fourth Foundation Day celebration, Adityanath highlighted that the annual encephalitis death toll ranged from 1,200 to 1,500 just five years ago. The establishment of AIIMS in Gorakhpur and the efficient handling of the situation after 2017 has led to this victory over the disease.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the state's strides toward the 'One District-One Medical College' initiative, ensuring no shortage of doctors within the next five to seven years. Additionally, Uttar Pradesh leads the nation in healthcare initiatives, issuing over 5.11 crore 'Ayushman Bharat Golden Cards' and extending benefits to seniors.
