Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated his government's commitment to providing accessible, affordable, and top-quality healthcare for all citizens.
After the Union Cabinet approved health coverage for persons aged 70 years and above under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Modi outlined potential benefits for approximately six crore senior citizens. The Rs 5-lakh free health insurance cover will support senior members of around 4.5 crore families, with new cards issued to eligible beneficiaries.
Modi also highlighted the Cabinet's approval of the PM E-DRIVE Scheme and the PM-eBus Sewa-Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) to enhance green mobility and sustainable transport. Two schemes with a total outlay of Rs 14,335 crore were given the green light. The focus extends to the development of hydropower projects and rural infrastructure, with the Union Cabinet endorsing significant budgets for these sectors. Modi's announcements underscore the government's multi-faceted approach to balanced development across healthcare, mobility, and infrastructure.
