Modi Government Unveils Major Initiatives for Health and Green Mobility
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced new healthcare and green mobility programs. The government approved health coverage for seniors under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, offering free health insurance to citizens over 70 years. Two green mobility schemes and funding for hydropower projects were also approved by the Union Cabinet.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reiterated his government's commitment to accessible and affordable healthcare, following the Union Cabinet's approval of health coverage for all citizens aged 70 and above under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY).
The scheme, benefiting around six crore senior citizens, includes a Rs 5-lakh free health insurance cover for members of approximately 4.5 crore families. Eligible beneficiaries will receive a new distinct card under the program.
In a significant push for sustainability, the Cabinet also approved Rs 14,335 crore for the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme and the PM-eBus Sewa-Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) scheme. Furthermore, Rs 12,461 crore has been allocated for 31,350 MW hydropower projects to bolster remote infrastructure development.
