Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu took significant steps to expedite the progress of 13 hydropower projects during a review meeting held on Tuesday.

These projects, which were agreed upon through memorandums of agreement (MoAs) signed in August last year, have been allocated to central public sector undertakings including NHPC, NEEPCO, SJVN, and THDC India Ltd. The review meeting, chaired by Khandu, was the sixth steering committee gathering to monitor the projects' progress.

Key issues such as early land acquisition, forest, and environmental clearances were highlighted. "Assessed the progress of 13 power projects with key PSUs - NHPC Ltd, SJVN Ltd, NEEPCO, and THDC India Ltd, whose combined investment in our state exceeds Rs 1 lakh crore," Khandu stated. He ensured government support for fast-tracking the initiatives and directed concerned departments and district officials to avoid delays. Notable attendees included NHPC CMD Raj Kumar Chaudhary and union joint secretary (Hydropower) Mohammad Afzal.
