Gujarat's government has mobilized specialist doctors and 50 medical teams to seven villages in Kutch district after an undiagnosed fever claimed 11 lives within a week, a state minister confirmed on Wednesday. Health Minister Rushikesh Patel conducted a review meeting in Bhuj to assess the containment measures underway.

Speaking to reporters post-meeting, Patel disclosed that 48 new fever cases were found in seven villages of Lakhpat and Abdasa between September 3 and 10. 'We have prepared 100 isolation beds, 30 ventilators, and BiPAP machines at Adani G K General Hospital for any emergency,' Patel stated. 'A cardiologist, two expert physicians, and 50 MBBS-led medical teams have been deployed for early diagnosis and treatment.' Ambulances from the '108 service' are available for patient referrals, he added. Samples have been sent to the Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre and National Institute of Virology for analysis.

'Between September 3 and 10, 11 people, including four children, died due to this fever which becomes severe within 5-7 days. Those who succumbed were late in seeking medical help. We urge Kutch residents not to ignore symptoms and immediately seek medical consultations,' Patel emphasized. Despite the unknown cause, he assured that the situation is under control and stressed the importance of early medical intervention.
