The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) reported mosquito breeding at 148 construction sites, including Chhatrasal Stadium, ISKON Temple, and Public Works Department premises. The discovery was part of a special inspection drive covering 290 sites across 12 zones to combat vector-borne diseases like Dengue, Malaria, and Chikungunya.

The MCD issued 83 legal notices and 60 prosecutions to builders and owners violating norms. 'Construction sites are potential breeding grounds for Aedes and Anopheles mosquitoes, which are vectors for transmitting these diseases. The discovered breeding sites were promptly destroyed,' stated the MCD.

Mosquito breeding was also found at various metro stations, hospitals, and other key locations such as Delhi Jal Board construction site in Old Chandrawal and Central Public Works Department in Pusa campus. Immediate action was taken to address these breeding grounds.
