In a significant move for global public health, UNICEF has issued an emergency tender to secure mpox vaccines for countries in crisis. This effort is in collaboration with Gavi, the Africa CDC, and the World Health Organization (WHO), as stated in a joint communication on Saturday.
The organizations have announced that, depending on the production capabilities of manufacturers, agreements for the procurement of up to 12 million doses of mpox vaccines can be established through 2025. This initiative aims to address the urgent need for mpox vaccinations in vulnerable regions.
The collaboration highlights the ongoing commitment of these organizations to combat public health emergencies and ensure equitable access to vaccines worldwide.
