During an interview with Stat News, Fauci shared his experience, stating he had never been as sick in his life. He tested positive for West Nile virus, a condition spread by infected mosquitoes, which has no specific treatments or vaccines available.
According to the CDC, the U.S. reported around 2,500 cases and 182 deaths from West Nile virus last year. Though he expects a full recovery, Fauci indicated it might take several weeks to regain normalcy.
