Norway announced on Friday its agreement to produce Norwegian-developed artillery ammunition in Ukraine. This decision comes as NATO allies are intensifying efforts to bolster their weaponry, both to aid Ukraine and to replenish their arsenals to face new challenges.
Norway's government revealed that Nammo, a Norway-based defense materials firm, has reached a deal with a Ukrainian defense group. Under this agreement, Ukrainian forces will manufacture licensed 155mm artillery shells developed in Norway. This initiative is part of broader efforts to sustain the supply chain amid ongoing conflicts.
"The government has permitted the transfer of Norwegian defense technology to Ukraine and is providing funding to facilitate this," the defense ministry stated, emphasizing that this strategy aims to deliver supplies to Ukrainian forces more quickly.
