Hospital Initiates Self-Defense Training for Women Statewide

In response to a tragic incident, VPS Lakeshore Hospital in Kolkata has launched a statewide martial arts training program for women. The initiative, funded with Rs 50 lakh, aims to train 50,000 women, providing them with physical and mental defense skills. Additional safety measures include distributing protective kits and a mobile SOS app.

In the aftermath of a horrific rape and murder of a resident doctor at a hospital in Kolkata, a private hospital has taken significant measures to ensure the safety of women. VPS Lakeshore Hospital has announced a statewide martial arts training program for all its female staff and women across the state.

The hospital has allocated Rs 50 lakh for this initiative, highlighting its dedication to creating a secure environment. "The training program will be mandatory for all female staff, reaffirming the hospital's commitment to their safety," the release stated.

Collaboration with local bodies and the state government will allow the hospital to train approximately 50,000 women within six months, free of charge. In addition, the hospital plans to distribute safety kits, which include protective items like pepper spray, to all women. A dedicated mobile app with an SOS function will ensure real-time assistance during emergencies.
