Thailand has confirmed an mpox case in a European individual who recently arrived from Africa, as announced by a disease control official on Wednesday.

The Thai health authorities are treating the mpox case under the assumption that it is the Clade 1 strain, given that the patient arrived from an African nation known for the disease's spread on August 14, according to Thongchai Keeratihattayakorn, the director-general of the Department of Disease Control.

The specific African country involved has not been disclosed by the director-general.
