Africa CDC Initiates Mpox Vaccine Production Talks

Africa's premier public health body has commenced discussions with Danish biotech company Bavarian Nordic to transfer technology for producing the mpox vaccine in Africa. Africa CDC's Director General Jean Kaseya announced updates would follow in the coming weeks.

Africa's top public health institution has entered discussions with Danish biotech firm Bavarian Nordic regarding the transfer of technology to manufacture the mpox vaccine within Africa, according to the director general of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), Jean Kaseya.

Addressing a press briefing, Kaseya mentioned that the initiative seeks to bolster self-sufficiency in vaccine production on the continent.

Kaseya further stated that more information on the progress of these talks will be provided in the weeks to come.
