A Appaiah, District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) in Mulugu, Telangana, has garnered commendation from Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya for his unwavering commitment to duty. Appaiah recently undertook a strenuous journey, scaling three hillocks and fording a stream, to reach the remote hamlet of Penugolu.

Appaiah's visit aimed to understand the logistical challenges faced by health department staff and to persuade the inhabitants to relocate to the plains. The hamlet, now home to 11 families, is located 16 kilometers from Wajedu and takes four and a half hours to reach.

Appaiah's efforts were recognized after reports highlighted his dedication. He provided medical treatments, mosquito nets, and a month's worth of groceries to the residents from his own resources. The health official urged the inhabitants to move to the plains, emphasizing the health risks they face, and conveyed their request for land and housing to senior officials.
