In a decisive move amid a rising spike in dengue cases, Karnataka's Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Friday launched a comprehensive awareness campaign in Dakshina Kannada, targeting the elimination of Aedes mosquito breeding sites responsible for the vector-borne disease.

Minister Rao, accompanied by health workers, conducted meticulous house-to-house inspections in the city. They identified and investigated common breeding grounds such as stagnant water in coconut shells, tubs, and tyres. Observing the ongoing eradication measures, Rao emphasized the importance of public vigilance.

Addressing the media, Minister Rao announced that the health department has initiated a weekly campaign to destroy Aedes mosquito breeding sites every Friday. Health workers are actively engaging with the public to raise awareness and prevent water stagnation around homes. Special measures, including the identification of dengue hot spots and fever clinics, are being recommended to control the spread and reduce fatalities.
