Launched with the aim of promoting AYUSH principles, these AAMs are designed to empower communities toward self-care, thereby reducing both disease burden and medical expenses. According to Sarma, the AAMs are based on a holistic wellness model rooted in AYUSH practices.

The services offered include managing common ailments, preventive health measures, promotion of self-care, and the cultivation of medicinal plants and herbal gardens. Additionally, two 50-bed ayurvedic hospitals in Dudhnoi and Majuli have been established to cater to the local healthcare needs.
