Union Health Minister J P Nadda on Friday urged citizens to incorporate yoga into their daily lives to reap its benefits. Celebrating the International Day of Yoga, Nadda performed yoga at the Yamuna Sports complex.
He noted that the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21 as International Day of Yoga, following a proposal from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. ''Since then, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Yoga has reached every corner of the world. I got the opportunity to perform yoga with enthusiasts today. Citizens should adopt yoga in their day-to-day life to avail the benefits,'' Nadda said.
In parallel celebrations, Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel led the IDY festivities at AIIMS, joining doctors and healthcare workers in yoga sessions. The day was also celebrated at prominent hospitals including Ram Manohar Lohia and Safdarjung.
