Wikipedia is describing Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy as 'former CM of Karnataka' although he has not announced his resignation yet. The free online encyclopedia later updated its page and the mistake was rectified.

While the Karnataka Assembly floor test was happening today, Kumarswamy mentioned he was happy to resign from his post but there is no official announcement yet. He said, "I apologize to Opposition and voters for keeping them waiting. I’m fed up of the current political developments. I'm ready to sacrifice my post."

The 13-month-old Congress-JDS government slumped into a minority earlier this month following the resignations of 16 dissident MLAs from the Assembly.

Anyone can make changes to the information being published on Wikipedia and the online encyclopedia published their name or IP address along with the details of the edit. Kumaraswamy's page was edited dozens of times on 23rd July itself as his government struggles in the Assembly.

This is not the first time such a blunder has happened on Wikipedia. Last year as well, Wikipedia declared Atal Vihari Vajpayee dead without any official confirmation, the page was later updated and the information was removed.
