Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Trinamool Congress, accusing it of allowing illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and Rohingyas to enter India through West Bengal. Shah highlighted that the state government's unwillingness to provide land has stalled the completion of 450 km of border fencing.
During a Lok Sabha debate on the Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025, Shah expressed confidence in a BJP victory in the forthcoming West Bengal assembly elections. He alleged that Aadhaar cards are being issued to illegal migrants in a West Bengal district, enabling their movement across India.
Amit Shah also addressed Congress's role in past illegal migration, asserting that national security demands a strict immigration system. He emphasized that India is not a 'Dharamshala' and warned against any threats to the nation.
