In a significant crackdown on corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two personnel from the Delhi Police for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh. The officials, Head Constable Sanwarmal and Constable Shubham Gill, were taken into custody after being caught red-handed by the CBI.

According to reports, the duo, stationed at Sagarpur police station in South West Delhi, demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to not implicate a complainant in a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case. Following negotiations, they agreed to accept a lowered bribe of Rs 3 lakh.

Acting on the complaint, the CBI set up a trap and apprehended the officers while they were accepting Rs 2.5 lakh. Both suspects have since been detained as the investigation continues to uncover more details. The incident underscores ongoing concerns about corruption within local law enforcement.
