The government is strategically maneuvering to meet an anticipated 277 GW peak power demand for 2025-26, as disclosed to Parliament this Thursday.
Minister of State for Power Shripad Naik reported a successful management of the 2024-25 peak demand of 2,49,856 MW with only a minuscule gap of 2 MW, underscoring the country's efficient energy planning.
To meet future demands, the government is deploying measures such as optimizing existing power capacities, securing coal supplies for thermal plants, and expanding coal-based thermal capacities. Plans are also in place for imported and gas-based power operations to ensure a seamless energy supply.
