In a significant move aimed at boosting healthcare affordability, Delhi's Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh announced a mandatory shift to procuring medicines from Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras. This decision aligns with the national capital's commitment to provide cost-effective, high-quality medicines and enhance transparency in procurement processes.

The transition follows a review meeting where the Minister urged expedited action within the health department to align with the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana's objectives. A key step is the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with PM-Jan Aushadhi centers' authorized partners, ensuring seamless supply across Delhi's government hospitals.

Minister Singh emphasized the policy's importance, highlighting efforts to transform Delhi's healthcare system by prioritizing transparency, accountability, and affordability. Besides this procurement policy, the expansion plan includes setting up six new Jan Aushadhi centers in government hospitals, making affordable generic medicines accessible to more patients and easing financial burdens.
