Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has declared the recent Mahakumbh congregation at Prayagraj as an unparalleled global event, with 66 crore devotees and saints visiting over 45 days. Addressing a crowd in Agra, he described the gathering as a divine and grand occasion facilitated by the blessings of spiritual leaders.
In a pointed response to criticisms, notably from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who dubbed the event 'Mrityu Kumbh' due to alleged mismanagement, Adityanath defended the Mahakumbh as a 'Mrityunjay Mahakumbh,' underscoring its success amidst challenges.
During an interview with ANI, Adityanath alleged that the massive influx of Bengali devotees intimidated the West Bengal government and denounced criticism from opposition parties as a mockery of Indian faith. Notably, the festival witnessed a tragic stampede incident, but still achieved record-breaking participation attributed to efforts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
