The Delhi High Court on Wednesday acknowledged a petition contesting the election of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi from the Kalkaji constituency. The petition alleges Atishi engaged in corrupt practices during the recent Assembly elections.
Specifically, Atishi stands accused of bribery under Section 123(1)(A) of the Representation of People Act, 1951. Justice Jyoti Singh's bench has requested responses from Atishi, the Returning Officer, the Election Commission of India (ECI), and the Delhi Police.
The court has instructed these entities to preserve all election-related records after the results announcement on February 9. The case raises questions about election integrity and campaign ethics, with the petitioners urging legal scrutiny.
