In a significant political move, Edappadi K Palaniswami, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and current General Secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), has urged for a thorough investigation into the alleged scam involving the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC). He raised this matter during his meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday evening, seeking a comprehensive inquiry by the Enforcement Directorate.
Palaniswami, who also serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, highlighted other key issues such as the controversial National Education Policy's language formula, requesting a continuation of the two-language policy in Tamil Nadu. He emphasized the need for funds and the development of various railway projects within the state, reflecting AIADMK's focus on public issues.
While addressing media in Delhi, Palaniswami dismissed speculations about a political alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Clarifying that such discussions would only occur close to election dates, he reinforced AIADMK's stand on ideological integrity and adaptability based on circumstances.
