The Budget Session of Parliament is set to resume on Wednesday, with several critical pieces of legislation on the agenda. Among these, The Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill 2024 stands out, aimed at enhancing governance and consistency in the banking sector's reporting practices, according to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

This bill, previously passed in the Lok Sabha last December, intends to bolster depositor and investor protections and improve service quality within public-sector banks. Proposed amendments will extend the tenure of directors in cooperative banks from eight to ten years.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is poised to introduce The "Tribhuvan" Sahkari University Bill, which seeks to transform the Institute of Rural Management Anand into a national university of prominence, emphasizing cooperative education and globally recognized research standards.

Additionally, the Protection of Interests in Aircraft Objects Bill 2025 will be presented by Union Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, aiming to secure aircraft asset interests in line with international conventions signed in Cape Town. This comes amidst a parliamentary flurry that also saw the extension of the Finance Bill 2025 and Joint Parliamentary Committee on One Nation One Election, with the Disaster Management Amendment Bill already moving through the legislative process.
