In a significant ruling highlighting the need for police accountability, the Rohini Sessions Court in Delhi has called for strict disciplinary action against three police officials. These officers, involved in the investigation of a grievous acid attack case, were found guilty of negligent conduct, with notable procedural lapses undermining the case.

The court identified a major oversight by Head Constable Krishan and Sub-Inspector Sandeep, who failed to seize the victim's acid-stained mattress and clothes. This omission compromised the evidence's integrity, delaying justice. Investigation leader SI Ved Parkash later retrieved the crucial items, which were sent for forensic analysis, although inconsistencies arose regarding the victim's attire during the attack.

Details of the June 17, 2018 attack reveal a horrific scenario where the victim was strangled, followed by her husband pouring acid into her mouth. The assault left her with severe injuries, including vision and speech loss. Advocates representing the victim argued that investigatory failures led to a miscarriage of justice. The court has mandated a DCP-led inquiry into the officers' conduct to ensure future accountability.
