As the Madhya Pradesh assembly opened its budget session on Monday, Congress legislators staged a protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue, pressing for an extended session. The move underscores growing tensions with the BJP government, accused of avoiding accountability.
Leader of Opposition, Umang Singhar, criticized the BJP-led administration for allegedly dodging public queries. "The government seems fearful, avoiding the assembly's operation — it's an escape from public scrutiny," Singhar remarked.
He emphasized the necessity for comprehensive debates on departmental budgets to address regional concerns such as water, electricity, and infrastructure. The session, commencing with the governor's address, is scheduled to conclude on March 24.
