Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri Maharaj of Juna Akhara announced on Wednesday that nearly half of India's population partook in the Maha Kumbh, highlighting the nation's cultural and civilizational pride. 'India's unity was showcased globally,' Giri Maharaj remarked, following his prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple during Maha Shivratri.

He acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for organizing the 'grandiose' arrangements for the Maha Kumbh. 'The world glimpsed our heritage and unity here at Kumbh,' he stated as the religious gathering concluded, extending his gratitude towards the PM and CM for their commendable efforts.

Adding to the occasion's significance, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of Niranjani Akhara, Swami Kailashanand Giri Maharaj, disclosed that all five Akharas performed prayers and 'abhishekam' at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple to mark the 'purnahuti' of the Kumbh.

Vast numbers of devotees descended upon Prayagraj's Triveni Sangam early Wednesday for the final 'Snan' of the Maha Kumbh, coinciding with the auspicious Maha Shivaratri. Dramatic drone footage captured a congregation of devout pilgrims partaking in a holy dip.

A devotee, speaking to ANI, expressed her joy for witnessing Maha Kumbh's final day. 'It's hard to describe my feelings... Our presence here is filled with excitement and the grace of Maa Ganga,' she commented.

Commencing with Paush Purnima on January 13, various auspicious bathing days such as Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya, Basant Panchami, Maghi Purnima, and finally, Maha Shivaratri, saw significant participation from renowned Akharas, including Niranjani, Ahwan, and the prominent Juna Akhada. (ANI)
