The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has officially granted Datia Airport in Madhya Pradesh a public aerodrome license under the 3C/VFR category, as announced by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. This milestone indicates that Datia has become the state's 8th public airport, now available for public use.

Chief Minister Yadav attributed this progress to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the rapid development across both the state and the nation. Prior to September 2024, only five airports in Madhya Pradesh were licensed for public use, including those in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Khajuraho, and Gwalior. Rewa Airport joined the list in September 2024, followed by Satna Airport in December 2024, marking significant advancements in regional aviation.

Spanning 118 acres, Datia Airport boasts a 1,810-meter runway and a terminal building designed to accommodate 100 passengers per hour. Equipped with modern security and passenger amenities, including X-ray machines and Wi-Fi, the new airport also houses facilities like an emergency response center. Its formal inauguration, alongside Satna Airport, is anticipated soon, initiating flight operations for the public.
