Navi Mumbai Police Gears Up for a Safe New Year Celebration

As the countdown to the New Year celebration begins, Navi Mumbai Police are intensifying efforts to ensure peaceful festivities. Commissioner Milind Bharambe announced on Monday that police personnel would be on high alert to safeguard citizens, while encouraging the public to celebrate responsibly in compliance with legal regulations.
'The Navi Mumbai Police is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for New Year celebrations,' Bharambe stated. He highlighted the deployment of officers, including those in plain clothes, to monitor drug use in key areas of the city.
The commissioner also urged residents to abstain from driving under the influence. Noting the abundance of farmhouses in Panvel, Bharambe mentioned the presence of officers in civilian attire to curb drug consumption. Recently, the state excise department raided a warehouse on Solapur Street, Mumbai, seizing 580 bottles of foreign liquor valued at Rs 80 lakh and arresting three people, officials said. With New Year festivities known for increased alcohol use, authorities warn of a rise in smuggling activities, stressing the importance of vigilance.
