On Thursday, the Delhi High Court sought a response from the Delhi Police concerning a plea filed by activist Devangana Kalita. The plea requests the preservation and reconstruction of the case diary related to the 2020 North East Delhi violence investigation.
Presiding over the matter, Justice Jasmeet Singh refrained from immediately directing the police to preserve the relevant documents but instructed them to respond to Kalita's plea. The next hearing is set for November 25 following her challenge to a lower court's November 6 order.
Kalita has also urged the police to release specific videos and WhatsApp chats from two cases, one of which involves the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, linked to the communal unrest that occurred during protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the National Register of Citizens in February 2020.
