Escalating tensions marked the fourth day of protests outside the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) office in Prayagraj, as student demonstrators demanded a return to the 'single shift' examination format. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abhishek Bharti expressed concern over 'anti-social elements' allegedly provoking students, leading to public property damage.
Participating students have been urged to maintain a constitutional approach to their protests. Police have made arrests and are actively identifying individuals instigating violence. Despite the unrest, the core group insists their primary aim is to press their demand for simpler exam procedures without engaging in disruptive activities.
Protesters voiced frustrations over the exam format's impact on preparation times and fairness. They criticized police tactics aimed at dispersing groups, arguing that restrictive measures exacerbate tensions. Allegations of police misconduct, including manhandling, were reported, further intensifying the call for reform. The standoff continues, with students remaining resolute in their demands.
