In a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Vijender Gupta, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, has accused the authorities of failing to address the capital's health infrastructure. Gupta pointed to seven stalled projects, stressing that their missed deadlines underline governmental negligence.
Visiting the dilapidated Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in Delhi's Dilshad Garden, Gupta expressed frustration at the halt in construction of a proposed 1900-bed facility. He highlighted that work ceased 1.5 years ago, accusing the Delhi government of squandering around Rs 1000 crore on incomplete health projects that should have finished by February 2022.
Moreover, Gupta criticized the AAP's track record, alleging that no new hospitals have been constructed during its decade-long rule. Meanwhile, all seven BJP MPs from Delhi have petitioned the High Court to compel the local government to implement the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, advocating for equitable healthcare access.
