India has achieved a notable milestone in its renewable energy journey with a 13.5% increase in capacity, reaching 203.18 gigawatts (GW) by October 2024, according to an official statement. This growth corresponds with the nation's designated objectives in renewable energy.

Specifically, the solar sector has seen an impressive surge, amassing 92.12 GW from the previous year's 72.02 GW, and wind energy has increased to 47.72 GW from 44.29 GW. Overall, the non-fossil fuel capacity, inclusive of nuclear energy, escalated to 211.36 GW from last year's 186.46 GW.

Further reinforcing its commitment to clean energy, India set 143.94 GW of renewable projects into the implementation stage and tendered an additional 89.69 GW by October 2024. As such, the Indian renewable landscape continues to expand on the foundation of consistent progress and investment.
