Retired Additional Director General of Police KS Suresh Babu has passed away at the age of 73. His demise was reported on November 7 at 5 pm, marking the end of a notable career in the Karnataka Cadre of the Indian Police Service (IPS), where he served from 1974 until 2006.
Babu's career was marked by several key roles, including Inspector General of Police for Southern and Western Ranges, Intelligence, and as Joint Commissioner of Police for Crime in Bangalore City. His meritorious service earned him the Police Medal in 1999 and the President's Police Medal in 2005. After his retirement, Babu remained active by penning a widely-read column for Udayavani, a Kannada daily.
In addition to his policing career, Babu was also an academic, previously teaching botany, which underscored his intellectual depth. Known for his eloquence and a broad range of interests, he is lovingly remembered by a wide circle of friends and family. He leaves behind his wife, Shamala, daughters Shalini and Savitha, and their families, including three grandchildren. His contributions to policing and education continue to be celebrated.
