In a significant development, Chhattisgarh's security forces have successfully neutralized three Naxals, including a high-profile platoon commander, during an intense encounter in Bijapur district. The operation marked a substantial blow to insurgent activities, as the forces also seized a considerable cache of weapons from the site.
The encounter unfolded on Friday in the dense forested hills of Rekhapalli-Komathpalli, strategically located at the tri-junction of Usoor-Basaguda-Pamed. Units from the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the elite CoBRA unit collaborated to execute the operation, resulting in the recovery of the Naxals' bodies and the weaponry.
Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P confirmed the success of the mission, revealing that alongside the deceased militants, authorities recovered one self-loading rifle, a sniper weapon, and multiple rifles. With the search operation still underway, officials emphasize the encounter as a crucial step towards curbing Naxal influence in the area.
