The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly is set to reconvene for its first session in six years, marking a significant moment in the region's political landscape. The agenda's top priority is electing a new Speaker, a pivotal position in facilitating legislative proceedings.

During a meeting in Srinagar, the National Conference, along with its allies, including Congress MLAs, laid out their session strategy. "We had an introductory meeting discussing tomorrow's proceedings, which include the Speaker's election and the Lieutenant Governor's address," said Jammu and Kashmir Congress President Tariq Hamid Karra.

Amid political strategies, the NC has nominated Abdul Rahim Rather for Speaker, while the BJP backs Narender Singh for Deputy Speaker. The session will also include tributes to past legislators. It's a momentous return for the Assembly since its last session on November 5 and the political shifts following the nullification of Article 370.
