In a nod to the new Samvat Year 2081, the benchmark BSE Sensex experienced a notable rise of nearly 448 points during the special Muhurat trading session. This surge was characterized by strong buying activity across all sectors, marking an optimistic start to the new financial year.

The 30-share Sensex index initially opened at 80,023.75 but settled slightly lower at 79,836.96, climbing 447.90 points or 0.56 percent. Likewise, the NSE Nifty jumped by 150.10 points to reach 24,355.45, with 47 of its 50 stocks in positive territory.

Top performers were Mahindra & Mahindra, which gained 2.66 percent, followed by Adani Ports up 1.42 percent, and Tata Motors rising by 1.35 percent. Other prominent gainers included NTPC, Axis Bank, and HDFC Bank. Meanwhile, international markets displayed mixed results; European equities gained, whereas many Asian markets saw declines.
