The Himachal Pradesh government has pushed back the deadline for police recruitment applications, previously set for October 31, to November 12. This decision, guided by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, is intended to provide additional time for young aspirants across the state, thus benefiting thousands of hopeful applicants.
Chief Minister Sukhu, who has prioritized job creation, has overseen the introduction of more than 31,000 employment opportunities in the past 20 months. The latest recruitment drive invites applications through the HP Public Service Commission for 1,088 constable positions. Of these, 30% of slots are reserved for women to promote gender balance, allocating 380 posts to female constables and 708 to male counterparts.
The state has also adjusted the age criteria for applicant eligibility, relaxing the maximum age by one year. General category applicants must now be between 18 and 26 years of age, while SC/ST, OBC, Gorkha, and distinguished sportspersons have a range of 18 to 28 years, and Home Guards can apply at ages 20 to 29. These measures reflect the state's commitment to broadening employment access for all its citizens.
