The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Hyderabad successfully intercepted a major drug smuggling attempt, seizing hydroponic marijuana valued at ₹7 crore. The DRI officials acted on specific intelligence reports and apprehended two Indian nationals arriving from Bangkok at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on October 31.
During a thorough luggage search, 13 vacuum-sealed transparent packets containing a greenish, lumpy substance were discovered concealed within chocolate packaging. Field tests confirmed the substance as marijuana. The contraband, weighing 7.096 kilograms, was confiscated, and the individuals were detained under the NDPS Act, 1985, for judicial custody.
This seizure follows another drug bust by the Telangana Police, who arrested a Rajasthan native, Krishna Ram, for possession of 150 grams of MDMA. The police raid, conducted on credible information, highlighted Ram's attempts to profit from illegal drug sales without any previous arrest record.
