In an effort to accommodate the festive travel surge, Indian Railways has introduced a series of special trains, aiming to facilitate smooth trips for those journeying home for Diwali and Chhath Puja. The initiative seeks to manage the overwhelming crowds at stations effectively.
Commuters have expressed a range of experiences, with some noting enhancements in government preparations. Jairam Singh commented on the efforts, stating that while the government is attempting to do its part, overcrowding remains a challenge beyond state control.
The Railway Board, led by Executive Director Dilip Kumar, confirmed the operation of 164 special trains connecting major routes, with favorable remarks on sanitation improvements. Eastern Railway's CPRO Kaushik Mitra announced an increase in services, offering 50 special trains and 400 additional ones to address passenger needs.
