Indian Railways has launched a series of special initiatives to accommodate the surge of travelers heading home for major festivals such as Diwali and Chhath Puja. Enhanced preparations include the introduction of special trains, alleviating congestion at major stations.
Travellers report positive changes, citing government efforts to improve services. Jairam Singh, a commuter, remarked on the authorities' attempts to manage the crowds, while Rajeev, another passenger, noted improvements on the Lokmanya Tilak Express despite minor delays due to the festive rush.
Indian Railways has announced 164 special trains to cater to nationwide demand, with routes originating from cities like Secunderabad, Ahmedabad, and New Delhi. The Eastern Railway has also boosted services, adding 50 special trains and 400 additional services. Despite ticket availability issues, sanitation improvements have been acknowledged.
