In a symbolic gesture of goodwill, the Indian and Chinese armies exchanged sweets and greetings on Thursday at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting point in Eastern Ladakh. The exchange coincided with the festive celebration of Diwali and signals a positive development amidst the ongoing disengagement process along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in this region.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced that the nearly complete disengagement process in eastern Ladakh shows a commitment to resolving conflicts. This statement came during the inauguration ceremony of the Bob Khathing Museum in Tezpur, Assam, highlighting ongoing diplomatic and military discussions aiming to address issues along the LAC.
Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong also emphasized the importance of problem-solving between the two nations, reflecting on recent achievements in Depsang and Demchok areas. Both countries have reportedly agreed on patrol arrangements to manage long-standing border issues, with a focus on restoring trust through phased disengagement to de-escalate tensions.
