Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked National Unity Day on Thursday by participating in a grand parade at Kevadia, Gujarat, in honor of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birthday. The event was highlighted by an exhilarating air show by the Indian Air Force's Suryakiran Aerobatic Team, showcasing impressive aerial formations.
The Ekta Diwas parade featured 16 marching contingents from nine states and one Union Territory, supplemented by four Central Armed Police Forces, NCC units, and a marching band. Key attractions included the NSG's Hell March, daring performances by BSF and CRPF women and men bikers, a martial arts display by the BSF, and a piped band recital by school children, culminating in the Surya Kiran flypast.
Before the parade, PM Modi paid homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity. He administered the Unity Oath, praising Patel's lifelong dedication to national unity and sovereignty. Celebrated annually on October 31, National Unity Day honors Patel's achievements, especially his pivotal role in uniting 562 princely states, forming the bedrock of modern India. Since its inception in 2014, 'Run for Unity' events have united citizens nationwide.
