Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the anniversary of his birth at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat, on Thursday. Posthumously honoring Patel, the Prime Minister administered the Unity Oath and participated in the 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' parade at the Parade Ground.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister commemorated Patel's 150th birth anniversary, praising his enduring influence. "Salutations to Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary. His dedication to the nation's unity and sovereignty is legendary and continues to inspire," PM Modi posted on X.
The Ekta Diwas Parade featured 16 contingents from nine states and one UT, along with four Central Armed Police Forces, NCC, and a marching band. Highlights included a 'Hell March' by the NSG, BSF and CRPF biker displays, martial arts performances by BSF, and the IAF's 'Surya Kiran' flypast. Celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas since 2014, October 31 marks National Unity Day with 'Run for Unity' events nationwide.
