In a bid to bolster the local economy, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami celebrated Deepawali by purchasing handmade diyas and other festive items from regional artisans, paying digitally. His actions align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Vocal for Local' initiative which is gaining traction nationwide.
CM Dhami stated that Modi's initiative provides artisans with a new identity and has significantly enhanced their products' demand, thereby creating employment for lakhs. This push towards promoting local goods is inspiring many to support indigenous talent.
Notably, the 'Vocal for Local' initiative was launched by NITI Aayog under the Aspirational Blocks Programme earlier this year, encouraging support for India's innovative spirit and homegrown talent. (ANI)
